Play Ball!!!

Thanks again to Susan from Between Naps on the Porch for having us back again this week. Something that has become somewhat of a ritual in our home is Baseball. All of my boys played HS ball for the local high school, #3 played in college and now Hubby is an umpire for the local MS & HS leagues. I thought that it might be fun to gather a few things and set a table to help us get in the mood for America's pastime.

I started with a linen table cloth and then found some vintage-looking striped fabric for the middle. I used my square plates that reminded me of the bases.

I put some of my Bobble heads on the table-they are fun and give some movement to the scene. My pilsner glasses were purchased at the local market, but we are having cream soda to drink.

My napkins were made from complimentary fabric, the stars remind me of the All-Star game, which we were priviledged to attend when it was held in Denver.

The napkin rings were made from scrapbook embellishments and the lacing from a baseball. Son #3 consented to cut up an old ball or two to get enough lacing for 4 rings.

My centerpiece is an old catchers mitt with several balls stacked inside. I placed it on my glass cake stand to give it some height. A few caps, peanuts and Cracker Jack round out the table. On the menu for tonight-hot dogs and apple pie! It can only get better if our team wins!
